People from Canada and the United States demand that Cheney be arrested
Dick Cheney went on national television Sunday to promote a new war, this time against Iran.
How can this contemptible character be allowed to go around getting huge fees for speaking engagements and selling his book? Promoting endless war after having committed one of the great crimes in recent history by invading Iraq, Cheney feels emboldened. Or at least he pretends to be emboldened. Last April, he cancelled his speaking engagement in Toronto because he feared angry protests by those calling for his arrest for war crimes.
Cheney should be arrested and prosecuted!
People from Canada and the United States will be demanding just that on October 31 when Cheney arrives at Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The demonstration will start at 11:30 am at 255 Front St. West.
The Indict Bush Now movement believes that it is critical for people to organize and mobilize demanding that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and other high officials be held accountable for their criminal acts.
It is critical that our movement remain highly visible and vocal.
On Saturday, October 26th, the Indict Bush Now movement joined with other organizations for a major mass rally in Washington, D.C., against the surveillance state that was created during the Bush and Cheney years, and has grown into such a monster that it today threatens to destroy the very fabric of democracy.
The American People Must Continue to Demand Accountability
More than 1 million Iraqis died due to Cheney’s and Bush’s war of aggression. Nearly 1,000 are still being killed each month because of the sectarian divide that was created deliberately as part of an occupation strategy by Cheney and Bush. Tens of thousands of U.S. troops left Iraq with life-changing physical and mental injuries. More than 5,000 lost their lives. And it was all based on hubris and lies!
This is a truly global grassroots movement. Other war criminals and torturers have been brought to justice even though it took years of continued, sustained and uncompromising efforts by people who believe in human rights and justice.
Organizers, activists and volunteers with the Indict Bush Now Movement are determined to keep fighting. We urge you to continue to show your commitment and support for this effort. Without accountability for high officials, the essence of democratic rule is shredded. This is a critical issue for our times.
