2 taxi drivers loot the passenger with a knife; outfit | Chandigarh News


Mohali: Mohali police claimed to have arrested a taxi driver and his accomplice for looting a passenger at the threat of a knife. The two defendants were presented to court on Tuesday and taken into police custody until December 16.
The arrested defendants were identified as Mohammad Zuber, resident of Burail and Mohit Sharma alias Aman, resident of Zirakpur. Taxi drivers stole 80,000 rupees and a cell phone from the passenger. Police said the victim, Swat TK, had come to Morinda for a hair transplant and on December 10, he flew to Chandigarh airport to catch a flight back to Kerala. However, he was unable to obtain a ticket that day.
Subsequently, he hired a taxi to Delhi and sat in the front seat. On the way, the taxi driver made his accomplice sit in the back seat of the taxi. After a while, the accomplice took out a knife and, holding it at the threat of a knife, stole Rs 80,000 and his cell phone. They drove him for two hours and then dropped him off in a secluded place.
Police recovered the Wagon R car used in the crime. During questioning, it emerged that the accused worked as a taxi driver in an app-based company. The complainant went to Sohana Police Station and recounted the incident, after the police registered a case.
