Guwahati: The All Guwahati Taxi Drivers Union has decided that taxi drivers will no longer work under Ola and Uber from August 1.

Around 6,000 drivers have already signed with Peindia resigning from OLA and UBER.

The drivers union has announced that from August 1, OLA and UBER taxis will no longer be available in Guwahati.

But to help daily commuters, All Assam Cab Workers Association and the Guwahati Cab Drivers Union said taxis will only be available in Peindia from August 1 in Guwahati.

Taxi drivers opposed OLA and UBER and boycotted the two companies.

Speaking to the media, the drivers highlighted their concern over their issues and concerns against the two companies at a press meeting on Sunday.

The decision was made in light of the taxi drivers’ interest in the city as the taxi drivers did not receive the necessary incentives and the Ola and Uber administration did not list and respond to their requests.

Almost all Guwahati taxi drivers are now associated with Peindia and residents of Guwahati will be able to book taxis from the Peindia app from August 1.

According to sources, a total of 16,000 drivers previously worked under OLA and UBER.

In addition, Guwahati taxi drivers have also informed that there will be special facilities available for passengers in Peindia.
