Pensioner with ‘invisible fingerprints’ denied driver’s license

An East Rand pensioner has given up on renewing his professional driving license (PDP) after going around in circles to get clearance because he has no detectable fingerprints. When Fanie Venter went to renew her PDP two years ago at the Edenvale Licensing Center (ELC), the optical scanner also failed to detect her fingerprints. “I went for the mandatory medical and eye tests. They then sent me to the police for fingerprinting, which took the police almost two months. I managed to renew my PDP with this endorsed clearance document without printing,” he explained.
