Hyderabad: The state government will launch a special campaign on June 3 to vaccinate all RTC drivers, rickshaw drivers and taxi drivers in the state. The vaccination process will take up to 10,000 people per day in the GHMC area and other district headquarters. The move comes following instructions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to relevant officials to identify high-risk groups and launch a special campaign to vaccinate them.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Monday reviewed the vaccine procurement and administration process with senior officials from BRKR Bhavan. They discussed the availability of vaccines, the allocation of vaccine quotas by the Center and other related issues. The minister called on relevant officials to continue and make efforts to ensure that the central government allocates more doses of vaccines to Telangana state.
The minister also called on officials to procure the medical equipment, oxygen supply and storage units needed to strengthen all of the state’s public hospitals. The decision was taken as part of the preventive measures proposed in anticipation of the third wave of Covid in the country. The Ministry of Health has been urged to stay alert and take all measures to equip hospitals to deal with any sudden spikes in cases of Covid and other diseases in the future.
